Bengaluru: A fire broke out due to a short circuit at the Malleswaram office of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, which is also its main information technology unit and the main office for all major operations.
Due to the fire on Monday, the corporation servers became unresponsive. A short circuit is said to have occurred when a BSNL router connected to an air conditioning unit in the server room sparked, but officials assure that data on the server has not been compromised.
According to Nagesh of the IT department of the Corporation, ''There are no problems experienced in the server, e-asset and office operations. Only, the leased main line connection was compromised as it got burnt. It is expected to be repaired as a priority and should be back in working shape within a couple of hours.
There was no damage to data and the backup of the data lost is easy to retrieve.” He also said that the BSNL Internet router connectivity, health servers and IFMS software or financial management are currently down.
