Bengaluru: In yet another surprise move, the Karnataka government on Thursday transferred Kuldeep Kumar Jain and posted him as Mangaluru Police Commissioner in place of N Shashikumar with immediate effect.

It is worth noting that the move came in a few days after several social activists and members of the public in Mangaluru had alleged illegal activities such as sand mafia, prostitution and corruption, taking place at police stations. The issues were raised during a public grievances meet held by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order, Alok Kumar on February 10. However after the meeting, the activists and the members said they were unhappy over the manner in which the grievances were attended by the ADGP. Speaking to reporters on Thursday, the outgoing Commissioner, N Shashikumar said, “It was a great and pleasant experience spending such a long tenure in a wonderful place like Mangaluru. Thanks one and all," he said.
