No monkey business! He bit many but did he deserve this?

Bengaluru: As a time when the birthday bash of a monkey is still fresh in people’s minds, a simian was beaten up black and blue by angry villagers after it bit several students of a primary school in Ramanagara district.
The monkey had been troubling villagers of Nagohalli in the district by attacking students going to the government primary school. Initially, the villagers did not do anything as the monkey is considered the avatar of Lord Hanuman. But as it continued its attacks, the people got irritated and lodged a complaint with the forest department. A couple of students had to be treated at the Mandya District Hospital for the bites.
When the monkey got caught in the cage kept by the forest department, the irate villagers reportedly hit it with stones and sticks injuring it in the eyes. Later the monkey was taken away by the forest department for treatment.
