Bengaluru: Three police officers in the city were suspended for allegedly procuring Call Data Records (CDR) of a woman and sharing the same with a private person.
The accused officers were identified as Suresh, Superintendent of Central Division (technical cell), Somashekhar, a police head constable and Nagaraj, a police constable. According to sources, a person had approached Suresh through a politician seeking the CDR of a woman working in a media house.
Following this, Suresh asked Somashekhar and Nagaraj to procure the details and later handed over the CDR to the person. However, the woman found out about the matter recently and approached the Bengaluru Police Commissioner CH Pratap Reddy demanding necessary action against the cops involved in this. Reddy initiated a detailed inquiry and asked the Central Crime Branch (CCB) officers to submit a report regarding the case.
After a probe, the CCB submitted a report which confirmed that the CDR details of the journalist were indeed procured by the officers in the technical cell. The officers were found guilty following which the Police Commissioner issued a suspension order for the three officers.
