Bescom EO arrested while accepting bribe

Bengaluru: An executive officer serving in the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (Bescom) fell into a trap laid by the Lokayukta police while accepting a bribe from a resident on Wednesday.

According to sources, a resident of Benniganahalli, Arvind, had recently visited the Bescom office in Kasturi Nagar subdivision in the city requesting the EO, identified as Vidya, for clearance of an electric pole. However, when the EO allegedly demanded Rs 25,000 from him for the job, Arvind filed a complaint with the Lokayukta police.

On Wednesday, as per the demands of EO Vidya, Arvind visited her and handed over Rs 5,000 as an advance. The EO was arrested while accepting the money from the resident.
