Bengaluru: Residents in some parts of the city were surprised when they could not find Nandini brand milk supply at most milk parlours on Friday. Later, the supply was hit due to a technical glitch at Bangalore Milk Union Limited (BaMUL).
According to the BaMul, the officials are not getting the details on the milk being loaded into milk carts for the past two days. The milk vehicles have to be loaded and sent on the routes, which usually are assigned to the drivers one day before the supply. As the data is not available, the authorities are finding it difficult to load the vehicles with adequate supply.
Due to this, the loading of the vehicles is slow, and it is not possible to reach the customers in time. The problem is likely to continue for the next two days. The officials are trying to fix the glitch at BaMul, and a team of experts from Hyderabad is expected to arrive soon and rectify the problem, the officials said. Speaking to the reporters on Friday, Narasimhamurthy, president of BaMUL said that the milk supply may be disrupted on March 3 and 4 while the officials are trying to sort things out.
“We supply milk based on the data in the computer systems. We have ERP (Enterprise resource planning) software to manage day-to-day business activities. There is some technical glitch in the software as the loading of milk is getting affected. An expert team from Hyderabad will be arriving soon and the problem will be resolved”, said the president.
