Bengaluru: Indicating that all is not well in the ruling BJP, several former MLAs and MLCs are set to switch over to the Congress Party, ahead of the crucial Assembly polls.
In 2018, the opposite happened with a big line of politicians waiting to join the BJP as they were sure of the party coming to power due to anti-incumbency which haunted the Siddaramaiah government as well as a series of scams.
Already, a number of sitting MLAs of the Janata Dal (Secular) have finished talks with KPCC President D.K.Shivakumar and dates are being fixed for their formal induction into the party. Several ex-MLAs and exMLCs of the BJP, have also decided to join the Congress Party.
Sources say former MLC, Mohan Limbikai, exMLA Govindaswamy from Doddaballapur, and another ex-MLA from Kollegal, Nanjundaswamy will join the Congress Party soon. Limbikai, a close aide of former CM B.S.Yediyurappa was miffed ever since Basavaraj Bommai joined the BJP and since then he had maintained a safe distance from party affairs.
Now, he is seeking the Congress ticket to contest from Dharwad against sitting MLA Arvind Bellad. Nanjandaswamy on the other hand is unhappy after Yediyurappa declared sitting BSP MLA from Kollegal N Mahesh as the BJP candidate and wants to quit the saffron party
