Bengaluru: Scotching rumours of him quitting the BJP, Housing Minister and Govindaraja Nagar MLA V.Somanna is said to have decided to contest the coming Assembly polls on the lotus symbol.

However, he has decided to pour out his grievancess before the high command for neglecting and sidelining him and nto availing his services to improve the position of the BJP in Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts.

According to sources, Somanna and Revenue Minister R. Ashok were at loggerheads for the last many months over the post of incharge of Bengaluru Urban district. Somanna was about to get the Bengaluru Development portfolio last year but the move was foiled by Ashok.

Since then they do not see eye to eye. On Monday, the bitterness came to the fore when Somanna abruptly got down from the BJP Rath Yatra in Padmanabhanagar Assembly constituency, and left in a huff.
Reports regarding Somanna’s move to quit the BJP have been doing the rounds following which Congress ex-MLAs ‘Layout’ Krishnappa and Priya Krishna had urged KPCC President D.K.Shivakumar against the induction of Somanna into the Congress

Another reason why Somanna is unhappy is that his junior was made the in-charge of Vijay Sankalp Yatra. While PWD Minister C.C.Patil has been made the convener, state BJP VicePresident B.Y.Raghavendra has been made the in-charge of morchas.
