Farmers announces support for parties committed to farmers' election manifesto

Bengaluru: The Federation of State Farmers' Organisations has recently announced its support for political parties that agree to the farmers' demands in their Election Manifesto.

The demand contains several provisions to provide minimum income guarantee security, improve access to credit, and ensure fair prices for agricultural products. Among the key demands are a complete farm loan waiver, changes to the farm loan policy, and the implementation of a scheme to provide interest-free agricultural loans to farmers producing food for the country.

The federation also calls for amendments to the Fasal Bhima crop insurance scheme, the cessation of the process of land acquisition of farmers' agricultural land in the name of development, and the provision of life security for affected farmers. Their demands suggest that the FRP rate of sugarcane should be fixed as the rate at the farmer's field and that farmers should be allowed to produce ethanol from sugarcane in sugarcane factories.

To prevent rural youth from migrating and to promote agriculture in rural areas, they propose undertaking projects in rural areas and the reservation of jobs for girls who marry sons of farmers living in rural areas.
