Electronic City occupies a vast stretch of 322 acres of land with major IT companies of the world like Siemens, GE, Wipro, Intel, HCL Technologies, CGI, Hewlett-Packard, Infosys, and others have made Electronic City one of the most sought after localities in Bengaluru. The area used to be a village at the outskirts of the city when these multinational companies inhabited them and built their workforce. Today, the area attracts a massive workforce. This has led to an increase of not only the social infrastructure like hospitals, malls, hotels, colleges, schools, and professional education institutes but many residential catchments that have developed near the park.
Electronic City is well connected by road to other parts of Bengaluru. This connectivity has improved further with the opening of the Hosur Road Elevated Expressway in 2010. This is a four-lane mixed corridor elevated highway that connects Electronic City to Silk Board Junction.
Besides, BMTC buses ply from here to various parts of the city. There is also the special BIAL service connecting the locality directly to Bengaluru International Airport. The Phase II of the Metro Rail Project, connecting RV Road and Bommasandra is also planned to pass through the city.
