Notorious rowdy sheeter arrested

Bengaluru: A notorious rowdy sheeter who allegedly had been evading the police since his release has been arrested by the Kempegowda Nagar police in the city. The police said that the rowdy, identified as Rajesh alias Kariya Rajesh, 40, started off indulging in robbery, extortion and drug smuggling cases in 2006 after which the KG Nagar police had taken up a case against him.

Later he was charged with a murder attempt and two complaints were filed at Chamrajpet and Jayanagar police stations against him. Further, Rajesh was involved in a murder case and nine other criminal cases were registered against him at Siddapura police station.

According to sources, he was also accused of killing a Kannada movie producer Umapathy. The police said that the accused had been evading the police and was brought from Mysuru after arrest.
