Fire at tissue manufacturing unit causes Rs 1 cr loss

Bengaluru: A massive fire broke out at a tissue paper unit resulting in a loss of the warehouse contents including computer systems, machinery, chemicals and raw materials stored inside the manufacturing unit, estimated to be worth over Rs 1 crore.

Fortunately, no loss of life was reported. According to sources, the fire was first noticed around 9 pm on Friday at a godown belonging to Dami Care Eigen Private Limited in Chikkagollarahatti on Magadi Road. The employees working in the manufacturing unit had reportedly gone out to have dinner. Around 10 fire tenders rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire in an operation that lasted seven to eight hours.

Sources said that valuables inside the warehouse were gutted in the fire that spread across the building within a few minutes. The cause of the fire was suspected to be a short circuit in the electrical system inside the warehouse. A case has been registered at the Madanayakanahalli Police Station regarding the incident and a detailed probe is underway
