Woman crushed to death in truck, bus collision

A woman was crushed in a ghastly accident involving a KSRTC bus, a truck and a two-wheeler near a metro station in Nayandahalli in the City on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Anusha, a native of Mandya. The incident took place when she, riding from Deepanjali Nagar towards Nayandahalli on the Mysuru Road with her mother and seven-year-old child on a two-wheeler, was hit by a truck.

Sources from the spot told News Trail that a speeding truck loaded with cement ran over Anusha's scooter and then collided with the KSRTC bus. Anush suffered a severe head injury and died on the spot. Anusha's mother and the child also sustained severe injuries and were rushed to a local private hospital. Sources also said that the truck driver managed to escape from the spot.

The motorists, residents and passersby expressed anger at the incident and pelted stones at the truck smashing the window panes until Byatarayanapura traffic police reached the spot and dispersed the crowd and eased the traffic congestion. Speaking to News Trail, an officer from the traffic police station said that the CCTV footage of the incident has been procured by the cops who have registered a case against the truck driver and have initiated a manhunt to nab him.

Tyre burst causes accident Meanwhile, in yet another accident, a bike overturned severely injuring two riders on the NICE Road near Hosakerehalli toll plaza here. According to sources, the tyre of the bike exploded due to some unknown reason resulting in the driver Anand losing his balance and falling off the bike along with the pillion rider who is yet to be identified. The injured have been shifted to a private hospital, sources added.
