Bengaluru: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has instructed the police to book cases and arrest those who have put up posts in social media celebrating the tragic death of CDS General Bipin Rawat and 12 others in a chopper crash in Coonoor in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday.
Talking to reporters after exercising his franchise in Shiggaon for the Council polls from the local bodies constituency on Friday, the CM said he has observed that some persons with ‘distorted minds’ have put up posts in facebook and twitter celebrating the death of CDS Rawat. While the whole nation was mourning the death of a true patriot, some mischievous elements have been celebrating his death.
“I will not tolerate this insult to a brave officer. I have given instructions to the cops to find out the IP address of these mischievous elements and arrest them immediately. Cases must be registered against them. Such incidents have been reported in other states too. Those who have done this must face the music,’’ Bommai said.
It may be mentioned here that a Udupi-based writer had reportedly put up a post in social media against Gen. Rawat. Citizens have demanded that the state government must take stern action against the writer.
