Karnataka ACS argues with RTO official at check-post

On Wednesday morning, an RTO official stopped the car of Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) administrator Rakesh Singh at the KR Circle. The IAS officer was visibly angry and pulled up the officer for stopping his vehicle. The Election Commission routinely stops government vehicles for election duty and deploys them as and when needed.

With the Karnataka elections scheduled for May 10 and the counting of votes on May 13, the Commission has deployed several officers for election work including several flying squads across the state. The incident involving Rakesh Singh highlights tensions that can arise during the election season, as officials work to maintain order and ensure that the election process is fair and transparent. Despite the disagreement, the RTO officer eventually apologised to the ACS and allowed his car to continue on its way
