Bengaluru: Here is good news for hapless motorists and pedestrians who have been coping with potholes and dust on Park Road between Balekundri Circle and Sri Dandu Mariamman Temple Circle at Shivajinagar. Patients and medical staff at the nearby Ghousia Maternity Hospital were one of the worst hit.
Bengaluru Smart City Limited engineers on Friday began supervising the asphalting of the road. “As of now, we are asphalting (50 mm) the road measuring 400 meters long and six meters width that leads from Balekundri Circle towards Shivajinagar. We will do a second coat of asphalting after 15 days. The other side of the road (from Sree Dandu Mariamman Temple Circle to Balekundri Circle will be asphalted soon,’’ said a BSCL engineer.
He has said that arrangements have been made to asphalt the stretch between Raj Bhavan Road and Infantry Road (up to Coffee Board Traffic Junction) by tomorrow night. As of now, milling of the stretch has been completed,’’ the engineer said.
According to the BSCL sources, asphalting of Ulsoor Road (658 meters long) got over on Thursday night. Meanwhile, a senior doctor from Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital has said that the road adjacent to the hospital has not been in poor condition for a long time. “Ambulance vehicle drivers are finding it tough to bring patients to this hospital due to the bad condition of the road,’’ the doctor said.
Meanwhile, the BSCL engineer has said that asphalting of that road would begin soon. “If all goes well, we are asphalting the road near Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital tonight. I know it has been pending for quite a long time,’’ the engineer said, adding that asphalting of Dickenson Road between MG Road and Kamaraj Road will be taken up tonight.
