Bengaluru:

The Election Commission of India has identified at least 19 out of 28 polling booths in Bengaluru urban and will be live-streaming the polling at these sensitive booths. There are as many as 8,600 polling booths in the entire constituency and the EC had decided to bring 50 per cent of constituencies under the CCTV radar to prevent electoral malpractice. Demonstration of VVPAT, identifying polling booths and taking up awareness programmes are some of the other steps the EC has taken in the poll-bound state. Special Commissioner for Election Ujwal Kumar Ghosh said all sensitive booths will have cameras and CPF deployed to avert any untoward situation.

“The commission is creating awareness to ensure 100 per cent voter turnout in these booths and has taken up precautionary steps,” he said. According to the EC, the sensitive booths are Anekal, Bengaluru South, KR Puram, Hebbal, CV Raman Nagar, BTM Layout, Yesvantpur, Malleswaram, Jayanagar, Bommanahalli, Rajarajeswari Nagar, Dasarahalli, Shivajinagar, Chamrajpet, Chikpet and Padmanabha Nagar. The upcoming Assembly election for the state is due on May 10 and will be held in a single phase
