Bengaluru:

The Congress has taken a dig at the ruling BJP government after it allegedly spent nearly Rs 4 crore to bring people to attend the Shivamogga airport inauguration function by PM Modi on Feb 27. PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the airport built at a cost of Rs 449.24 crore on 663 acres of land. The opposition party seized the opportunity in the poll-bound state to put pressure on the BJP.

In an interview with News Trail, KPCC’s Communication Chairman, and Chittapur MLA Priyank Kharge, said that the state government misused its power to bring people to the PM’s event. “It is a misuse of power to spend public money to bring people to attend a PM's event. They are using the people by providing food and a little money to make them attend the PM’s event because they know they don’t have the public’s support and this is their only way to attract crowds,” Kharge said. The Congress’ dig comes at a time when the state is all set to test the water of the Assembly election and when there are a lot of dramas unfolding within the two major parties.
