BJP fields IMA accused in Madhugiri constituency

Bengaluru, NT Bureau:

The BJP’s Karnataka unit, on April 11, released a list of 189 candidates, which has names of new faces that replaced incumbent leaders, besides family members of the leaders getting an opportunity to contest this time. In an unpredicted move, the BJP decided to field LC Nagaraj, an accused in the multi-crore IMA ponzi scam, who was also a former KAS officer. The move comes after the ruling party allegedly retracted the pending inquiry on him and cleared his resignation. Nagaraj was arrested in 2019, when he was the north assistant commissioner, Bengaluru, for allegedly using his power to issue a no objection certificate to I Monetary Advisory founder Mohammed Mansoor Khan. On the other hand, Congress has given the ticket to KN Rajanna, father-inlaw of Girish, who arrested Nagaraj. The JDS has given the ticket to MLA MV Veerabhadraiah.
