Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) has taken up the task of raising awareness among the public about the importance of voting in preparation for the ensuing assembly elections in the State.

As part of the campaign, passengers who purchase a ticket from KSRTC will see the message imprinted on it: ‘Do not forget to cast your vote on May 10. Voting is your right’, in the Kannada language. Through this initiative, the state road transport corporation hopes to educate people about the upcoming elections and encourage them to exercise their right to vote.

According to a KSRTC official, “The main goal of this awareness campaign is to increase voter participation and make citizens aware of the upcoming election.” The official emphasised the importance of citizens realising the power they hold during elections in the country. KSRTC reported that over 20 lakh passengers travel on their buses, and the official believes that using this platform to raise awareness among the public will be effective.

In addition to printing the message on bus tickets, KSRTC has also displayed the same message on digital boards in several bus stations across the state. The awareness campaign began over a week ago and will continue until May 10, the day of the election.
