Bengaluru: The Karnataka BJP unit has made it to the headlines for quite some time ahead of the polls, for many reasons. However, this time, the party is also in the headlines as not even a single leader was seen during the candidate announcement meeting held in Delhi.
While many leaders flew to the national capital to express their views, the party’s high command didn't give them a chance to share the table while releasing the candidate lists. Congress, the main opposition party in the state, attacked the BJP over the issue.
Taking to Twitter, Karnataka Congress said, “There is no state president of Karnataka BJP, no Karnataka Campaign Committee President or the Chief Minister at the ticket announcement platform. There is no leader from Karnataka. Were Karnataka's BJP leaders unfit to sit on the platform in Delhi?”. The party also came down heavily on Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah and said, “The "slavery" of the Mo-Sha couple is not the leader who stands and trembles”.
This comes at a time when a lot of BJP leaders and party members are quitting their posts over the denial of tickets to them. Many BJP leaders faced the ire of the high command ahead of the election. A lot of BJP leaders including former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar were denied tickets for the upcoming assembly elections.
