Bengaluru: A mini goods carrier vehicle carrying a fake registration number plate was allegedly found to be used by members of the BJP for election campaigns here. According to sources, the matter came to light when the city police along with election officers flagged it down and scanned its documents near Sheshadripuram on April 8.

"We stopped the vehicle around 11:20 am. The driver and the assistant told us they work for a private firm roped in to display BJP-related ads via LCD screens fitted on vehicles. We sought the mini-goods truck's documents as well as permission letters connected to the ads. During frisking, we discovered the registration number of the vehicle (KA-04-AB-4441) was not matching with the engine and chassis number. A deeper probe revealed the vehicle was fitted with a fake number plate. Its real number should have been KA-01- AB-5613," R Suresh, a flying squad official, said in his complaint.

Cops booked driver Vishwa S and the person in charge of beaming BJP-related ads, Arjun, under MV Act and IPC section 420. A case has been registered at the Sheshadripuram police station regarding the matter
