Political observers recount failures of Bommai govt

Bengaluru: The Congress party, its leaders, as well as workers, including political analysts and observers across the state, issued some points, recounting the alleged failures of the Bommai government in the last five years.
“There are a million reasons to oust the BJP government in Karnataka, but highlighting ten here,” reads the statement. Some of the points that they recounted include the alleged 40% corruption of the BJP government, the latest row over Nandini dairy products and the farmers’ issues. They said the BJP government is saddled with scams and added, “After stealing the people’s mandate in Karnataka and toppling a democratically elected government in 2019, all that the BJP has done is indulged in corruption.”
On farmers’ income, the statement noted that the state government failed to fulfil the promise of doubling their income, but the state recorded the second highest farmer suicides. “The 40% Commission Sarkara looted over 1.5 lakh crore of honest taxpayers' money in the state, besides backing the high prices of LPG, milk, curd, and petrol,” noted the statement.
The Congress party repeatedly accused the BJP government of failing to provide the two-crore annual jobs, which PM Narendra Modi promised. It also questioned the Bommai government of 1.5 lakh annual jobs, terming his regime to be a PayCm government. Recently, a civil rights group in the state released a report on the performance of the Bommai government in the education sector, in which it failed.
The report highlighted the failure of the state government, including the inability to control the dropout rate among school students after Covid-19. In a similar allegation, the statement said nearly ten lakh students dropped out of school over the lack of eggs, shoes and socks.
Coming down heavily on the BJP government, they also said that the government didn’t even spare Covid-19, the pandemic, and looted money during the health crisis when people were gasping for oxygen. The state’s debts, civic apathy, free flow of drugs in Bengaluru, the state’s capital, and no fulfilment of 90% of promises are some other points that they highlighted.
