Candidates rush to file nominations, deadline today

Bengaluru: Scores of candidates from across political party lines filed their nominations on Wednesday only a day before the deadline. The last day for filing of nominations is Thursday and April 24 is the last day for withdrawing nominations. Prime among the candidates was former chief minister Siddaramaiah who filed his nomination from his stronghold Varuna in Mysuru district.
The Congress bigwig turned the nomination into a show of strength by taking part in a roadshow, not before he visited some temples of note in the district. Siddaramaiah filed his nomination in Nanjangud Taluk Panchayat office in Mysuru district. Another prominent face was Raghu Achar who filed his nomination on a JD(S) B form from Chitradurga constituency.
He accompanied JD(S) legislature party leader HD Kumaraswamy in a roadshow in the city. Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP’s) candidate from Rajajinagar Gopinath S also filed his nomination. Socialist Unity Centre of India-Communist (SUCIC) Rajajinagar Comrade Rama TC also filed his nomination papers.
