Bengaluru: Namma Metro operations were disrupted for a few minutes as the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) carried out maintenance works on the green line on Sunday morning.
According to sources, a delay in completing the maintenance work disrupted metro services on the Green Line (Nagasandra to Silk Institute) for 10 minutes, the train services were partially disrupted for over 25 minutes here. The maintenance works were carried out between RV Road and Banashankari station lines, the sources added. The trains scheduled to start at 7 am experienced delays and were temporarily halted for a few minutes.
"On Sunday, the first train which left the Silk Institute had to be short-looped at Yelachenahalli. The train, which had come from Nagasandra side, had to be terminated at National College and the train was run back to Nagasandra, sources from BMRCL said. Normally the metro trains begin operating at 5:30 am on the weekdays and on Sundays the service starts from 7 am on both the Green and Purple lines.
However the trains services on the Purple line were undisturbed and continued as scheduled. In a similar incident this week on Monday morning, train services at the Vivekananda Metro station, on the Purple line halted for almost 20 minutes, causing inconvenience to several commuters. There was an insulation failure in the rubber of the metro track owing to the rise in temperature.
