Bengaluru: In a stark contrast to a rise in the number of accidents involving KSRTC bus drivers, two KSRTC drivers were awarded Rs 5000 each on Monday for their zero accident track record.

The award was given away by the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU). The two drivers Ejaz Ahmed Shari and Ishaq Sharif of the Mysuru Division were given Hero’s on the Road Award for 33 years of accident-free service. The awardees were congratulated by the Managing Director of ASRTU, V Anbukumar.

The two drivers have already been awarded silver and gold medals from the Corporation for their accident-free service. Calling these drivers unique and exemplary, the MD, Anbukumar, said, “Driving profession is very difficult and responsible, preventing accidents on the road is a challenge. Many times accidents happen due to no fault of their own.”

The MD also took the opportunity to congratulate Khudsiya Nazeer for winning the Gold Medal in the 2023 South Indian Masters Weightlifting championship. Prashant Kumar Mishra, IAS, and other senior officials were present at the event with the family members of the drivers.
