Bengaluru: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday encouraged a girl student to speak in Kannada during his interaction in the poll-bound Karnataka. “Please speak in Kannada as we are in Karnataka”, said Rahul Gandhi during an interaction with the public as part of his assembly election rallies. The crowd broke into rapture while cheering and applauding the Congress leader for his gesture.

Congress shared the video on social media, to which its supporters and other users appreciated and called Rahul Gandhi the only leader in India to respect the federal structure of the country and language rights. A few users on social media have also said it is the least that Kannada people expect from the politicians. It is not the first time that the Congress leader has come to the limelight over language rights.

Rahul Gandhi supported the students over the exclusion of regional languages in the UPSC exams in 2022. In an interaction with the job seekers in Chitradurgha of Karnataka last year, Gandhi said, “Every state should have the right to use its language and if the students want to do exams in the regional language then they should be allowed to do so”.
