Bengaluru: Congress party’s Randeep Singh Surjewala said this smacks of the inherent prejudice and hate that the BJP and its leadership have for the tallest Scheduled Caste leader of Karnataka in the last few decades Slamming the BJP’s Rajasthan MLA Madan Dilwar for his alleged remark ‘God can take Kharge anytime as he is 80-years-old’, the Congress party’s general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala, in a statement said the remark was disgusting, obnoxious, and reprehensible.

The MLA said,” Kharge is 80 years old, god can take him away anytime but I will pray that he lives for 200 years” “Kharge is Karnataka’s son of soil. Being born in a Dalit family to a factory labourer, he has risen from the post of block president to the president of the party. He is a champion of social justice and equality”, read the statement from Randeep Singh Surjewala.

Saying that the people of Karnataka refer Kharge to as Solillada Saradara, which means a warrior who knows no defeat, Surjewala added the desperate PM and BJP are clutching at straws in the Karnataka election and their frustration is visible in their statements. The political slugfest has reached an ugly point amid the assembly election heat in the state with slogans of polarization and abuses.

Surjewala had also asked why the Prime Minister was mum on the remarks that his MLA had made questioning whether it was an attempt to please him at his instance. The statement also mentioned the series of abuses against Congress leaders by BJP leaders. Earlier Mallikarjune Kharge referred Modi to as a poisonous gas to which he clarified that his statement was for the ideology that the PM follows and was not on him.

In a reply, BJP’s BR Patil Yatnal called former Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi ‘Vishkanya’, a venomous maiden. In a development, Congress’ Chittapur MLA Priyank Kharge, son of Mallikarjun Kharge called PM Modi ‘Nalayak’. The EC served notices to both Priyank Kharge and Yatnal.
