Women cops on PM bandobast in B’luru hit by toilet shortage

Bengaluru: BJP supporters and the general public gathered in large numbers to get a glimpse of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was on a roadshow to woo voters of Bengaluru ahead of the Assembly elections on Saturday. If the event went off smoothly, it was because of the presence of a large police force.

Of the large police contingent placed at the venue were a number of woman cops, who had a sorry tale to narrate. There were hardly any toilets at the place, making it very difficult for them considering the long hours they were stationed at the venue as well as the rally route.

Around 8,000 police officials were deployed for the bandobast in the city and yet there were no mobile toilets handy, they complained. Speaking to News Trail, some cops said they had to relieve themselves in nearby petrol bunks and other business establishments.

“We have been here since early in the morning and we are not sure how long it will take for us to complete the duty. There are no toilets for us. While some of us are near business establishments where we could relieve ourselves, others were away from even such facilities, which made us suffer a lot,” a cop who did not want to be named said.

While areas like Jayanagar and JP Nagar had public toilet facilities that helped cops on duty, the rest of the areas had no such facilities. Two female cops were deputed every fifty metres across the areas where the PM went on the roadshow. Another woman cop said she had to wait for her duty to get over to access the basic facility
