Bengaluru: Fans who were upset with the teaser of Adipurush last year have heaved a sigh of relief after the trailer of the film was released on Tuesday. The teaser of the film was panned for its below-par visual effects and graphics. The new trailer however is a very big improvement.
The film is releasing in five languages, including Kannada, in 2D and 3D this June 16. The film is made on motion-capture technology and its already huge budget of Rs.500 crore was jacked up to Rs.700 crore following the negative response to the VFX used in the teaser.
The trailer has made fans sigh with relief that it is money well spent. The film was originally scheduled to be released in August 2022. But following the backlash to the teasers, the film team went back to the working table to enhance the quality of the VFX. Directed by Om Raut and produced by Bhushan Kumar, the film features Prabhas in the lead role.
Adipurush is an adaptation of the Indian epic Ramayana and is set to be released on June 16. Prabhas, who is known for his performances in blockbuster films such as Baahubali and Saaho, will be playing the role of Lord Rama in Adipurush. The film also features Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon, who will be playing the role of Sita.
Saif Ali Khan, who has also been making headlines for his recent performances in Tandav and Sacred Games, will be playing the role of Ravana. The trailer of the film shows Hanuman as the narrator of the film who introduces the story stating that it is the journey of Rama who was born as a human but went on to become a God.
To match the grandeur and magnificence of what is being billed as the ‘costliest film’ in India so far, the trailer launch celebration of this spanned two consecutive days. The trailer was first screened exclusively for the fans of Prabhas in Hyderabad, followed by a grand launch event in Mumbai that was graced by the presence of the star cast, director, and producer.
The trailer was released in a staggering 70 countries worldwide, turning it into a truly global celebration. The film has been shot in Hindi and Telugu and dubbed into Kannada, Tamil and Malayalam. The trailer was released in all five languages.
