Bengaluru: Karnataka Congress MLA from Shivajinagar constituency, Rizwan Arshad, who won the Assembly elections with over 64,913 votes, defeating Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate N Chandru, thanked the citizens for their support and for making him win.

Speaking to News Trail on Sunday, the MLA said, "The election results in Karnataka are a message to the whole nation. The results show that responsible citizens never side with divisive and corrupt politics. People in the state have laid a foundation stone for a corruption-free government in the country." In 2019, Arshad had won the seat by defeating M Saravana of the BJP by a margin of 13,521 votes.

"I'm happy that the blessings of the residents of Shivajinagar are with me. People belonging to different faiths have voted for me. I thank the voters for electing me to serve you. I assure the people of every possible help and to work hard towards the betterment of the constituency," he added.
