Accused in Pocso case escapes from police

Bengaluru: A 25-year-old cab driver who was arrested by the Kadugodi police for allegedly sexually harassing a minor, escaped from the police station after pushing away a constable, according to the police.
The incident took place on Monday when the accused was allowed to use the toilet at the Kadugodi Police Station. According to sources from the police, the accused, a native of Odisha, had been residing in the city for the past 10 years. He had recently started working as a cab driver.
During his stay here, he befriended a 17-yearold girl and got married to her. However, he recorded their intimate moments and shared them on social media platforms. As the girl came to know about it, she filed a police complaint. A case of rape under 376 IPC, relevant sections of IT Act apart from Pocso Act was filed against the accused.
The accused was arrested late on Sunday night. As most of the cops were on poll duty, he managed to escape from the police station after shoving a constable around 2.10 am while he was being led to the toilet. Efforts are on to trace the accused, police said.
