Man electrocuted, negligence of Bescom officials alleged

Bengaluru: In a tragic incident, a 28-year-old painter died of electrocution after he came in contact with an electric pole near Devarachikkanahalli in Bengaluru South.
According to sources, the incident took place on May 11 when the deceased, identified as Miraz-ul-Islam, a native of Assam, had visited a hardware shop. A resident of Yajamana Layout, Miraz, along with a relative, came near a hardware shop around 9 am to purchase paint and parked his scooter next to an electric pole on Devarachikkanahalli Road.
After purchasing the paint, as Miraz was trying to open the boot space under the seat of his scooter, he was electrocuted and fell on the road. Immediately, he was taken to Jayanagar General Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.
Based on a complaint from a relative of the deceased, Bommanahalli police registered a case regarding the incident. "We have registered a case of negligence causing death against the responsible Bescom officials and are currently investigating the matter," a senior official said
