Do not to fall prey to part-time job offer scams: Police

NT Correspondent

Bengaluru: With an average of 10 to 12 cases of fake part-time job offers being reported every day in the city, the police have warned the citizens against falling prey to such frauds.

According to Bengaluru cyber police, among all online fraud cases being registered, around 39 per cent are related to job frauds. This mainly includes email compromise, frauds committed using job portals and sending job offers by cloning genuine email IDs. The police said that the cyber crooks would attempt to lure the gullible victims by offering 'easy money' for seemingly simple tasks on social media websites.

"Recently it has come to the notice of the cybercrime department that a certain gang has been operating by contacting potential victims on WhatsApp and offering to pay up to Rs 5000 a day by clicking the 'Like' button on YouTube videos. Sharing a couple of chats of fraudsters, the officer added, "Do not fall for these tactics. Stay vigilant," he said.
