Bengaluru: Close on heels of two tragic deaths in the city due to heavy rains, another death was reported on Monday night when a 48-year old person fell to his death into a waterlogged underpass near Kachohalli in Kamakshipalya traffic police station limits here.
Speaking to News Trail, the jurisdictional police said that the incident took place around 8:30 pm on Monday when the deceased, identified as Faqruddin, was riding a scooter in Kachohalli near NICE road.
"It was raining at the time and as the deceased reached the underpass, he lost balance of his scooter and fell on the road suffering severe injuries," an officer said, adding that the underpass was inundated due to rain. Faqruddin died on the spot due to excess bleeding.
The police were alerted by a few motorists who found the man lying injured inside the underpass. The police rushed to the spot and shifted the body to Victoria Hospital. News Trail also spoke to several residents and motorists around the area who said that the underpass is poorly lit.
The motorists said that as one part of the main road was being white-topped, vehicles from both sides were forced to travel on a single lane. The people blamed the mismanagement of the civic agencies for the death of Faqruddin. The deceased was a resident of Ramanagara and worked near a site at Kachohalli as a contract welder.
