
Four from B’luru drown in lake near Nandi Hills

Bengaluru: Four youths from here drowned in a lake near Ramanathapura of Devanahalli taluk on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Sheikh Taher, 18, Tohid Muneer, Shahid Ismail and Faizal Khan, all residents of Chamundi Nagar in RT Nagar.
It was later revealed that they were pursuing PUC at a private college in Bengaluru. Police said that the four youths had visited Nandi Hills on Sunday morning and were on their way back to Bengaluru when they decided to go for a swim in the lake near Ramanathapura around 4 pm.
"As one of them did not know how to swim, the three tried to save him but instead all of them drowned," said Superintendent of Police (Bengaluru district) Mallikarjun Baldandi. Police said the villagers found a bike and scooter parked at the tank bund. They also found that the youths had kept their shoes and clothes near their vehicles.
Suspecting something wrong, the villagers alerted Vishwanathapura police. The police rushed to the spot and called a rescue team from Fire and Emergency Services who managed to bring out two bodies. Police identified the deceased as Shahid Ismail and Faizan Khan. Two are still missing, police told News Trail on Sunday evening. The recovered bodies were later sent for the postmortem analysis.
