
Volleyball stars in the making in Bengaluru

Over 150 aspiring volleyball players between the age group of 14 to 17 years of age attended the selection trials on 12 December at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium organised by the Bengaluru Torpedoes - a franchise in the Prime Volleyball League. Of the 150 kids, 25 of them have been selected for a four-month coaching camp which is part of the Bengaluru Torpedoes grassroots program between January 2022 to April 2022.
The grassroots program will be held at the Youngsters Kabaddi club, in Malleswaram Bengaluru under the mentorship of Bengaluru Torpedoes experienced coach KR Lakshminarayana and head coach Divyaprasad.
Ankit Narogi, Owner, Bengaluru Torpedoes, said, “Bengaluru has seen the rise of Kabaddi, cricket and football and badminton in the last decade or so, and Volleyball is sure to become the next big thing.”
The Prime Volleyball League will consist of 24 games and features seven franchises namely Ahmedabad Defenders, Bengaluru Torpedoes, Calicut Heroes, Chennai Blitz, Hyderabad Black Hawks, Kochi Blue Spikers and Kolkata Thunderbolts.
