Bengaluru: The Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah picked MLCs Naseer Ahmed and K Govindaraj as his political secretaries with cabinet ranks on Thursday.

Both Naseer Ahmed and Govindaraj represent the party in the state’s legislative council and are expected to coordinate and communicate between the Chief Minister’s office and the legislative bodies. In the order issued by the party, it says both the MLCs are appointed as political secretaries to the Chief Minister with immediate effect and till further orders, with all available facilities with the status of a cabinet minister.

The announcements come the day ahead of the Congress party being told to implement the five poll promises it made during the election campaign. According to the reports, the secretaries are said to offer insights, and policy inputs, and aid the CM in terms of political strategy formulation.

The Chief Minister Siddarmaiah will likely hold the cabinet meeting on Friday to discuss implementing the promises. The Congress party is also keen on implementing the state education policy instead of the National Education Policy (NEP).
