Lokayukta inspects underpass

Bengaluru: A fortnight after the tragic incident at the KR Circle underpass where a 22-yearold woman lost her life, Lokayukta Inspector General of Police (IGP) Subramanyeswara Rao along with BBMP officials inspected the spot.

Bhanu Rekha, who hailed from Vijayawada, died on May 21 after the cab she was travelling in submerged due to water logging at the KR Circle under pass in Bengaluru, while torrential rain lashed the city.

The Lokayukta who had recently taken suo motu cognisance of the incident, had issued notices to eight BBMP officials. A case was registered regarding the incident at Halasuru Gate Police Station. The driver of the cab was arrested and produced before court. Speaking during the inspection, the Lokayukta IGP said that a probe is on to find the root cause of the incident.
