Bengaluru: In a shocking incident, a paramedical student from Tumakuru was allegedly gangraped by two youth in the city. Speaking to News Trail, sources from Girinagar police station said the incident took place on Tuesday when the victim's friend, Purushottam, lured her to a room of another friend, Chetan, following which both the perpetrators allegedly raped her.
The two accused identified as Purushottam and Chetan have been arrested by the jurisdictional police. It was revealed that the prime accused, Purushottam, and the victim both hailed from Tumakuru and knew each other. Purushottam was in love with the girl who treated him as a friend. Purushottam had taken up a job of driving a bike taxi in Bengaluru while Chetan was an outsourced employee of a private bank.
As per the complaint, Purushottam had become close with the girl in September last year after which they started speaking to each other over phone. When he visited Tumakuru last week, Purushottam met the girl and took her mobile phone.
Later he returned to Bengaluru taking her phone along with him. When the girl requested him to return her mobile phone, the accused allegedly asked her to come to Bengaluru and collect it. When the girl reached Majestic on Tuesday, the accused took her to his friend's room near Eranna Gudda, the police said. The victim alleged that the accused, Purushottam, offered her juice mixed with sedatives after which another accused, Chetan, also joined him. She alleged that both the perpetrators took turns to rape her.
Responding to the victim's scream for help, neighbours rushed to the place and alerted the police, who took the two youths into custody. Deputy Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru South, P Krishnakanth on Thursday, said,"The two accused have been arrested under section 376, 376D, 34 IPC. The matter was reported to the Girinagar police on Wednesday. Further investigation is on."
