Bengaluru: A hoax call about a bomb threat sent employees of a private company into a tizzy at RMZ EcoSpace campus in Bellandur on Tuesday afternoon.

According to sources, a threat call reached the office of BDO Rise Pvt Ltd, a public accounting, tax and advisory firm, warning that a bomb had been planted and would go off soon. The firm staff immediately alerted the Bellandur police who rushed to the spot with the dog squad and a bomb disposal team. The Internal Security Division (ISD) officials also arrived on the spot.

However, following an inspection, it turned out to be a hoax call. Initial investigation has revealed that the caller was a former employee of the company who had quit recently. The police are now on the lookout for the caller. A similar hoax bomb scare was reported at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) around 3:30 am which created an atmosphere of anxiety for some time, sources from the Bengaluru Airport said.

Alerted, the personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the police conducted intensive checks at the airport terminal including the entry and exit gates for more than two hours. Later, the officers heaved a sigh of relief as the threat turned out to be a fake one.
