Bengaluru: Three poachers, who had come from Tamil Nadu to hunt wild boars using crude bombs have landed in the police net. They got arrested after a police team on night rounds found them moving suspiciously on a bike on the Bengaluru-Kanakapura road.
When the police checked their bags, they found crude bombs in their possession. The poachers have been identified as C Ramachandra, 52, C Devaraju, 40, and P Balakrishna, 55, all native of Sulikunte in Denkanikottai taluk of Krishnagiri district in Tamil Nadu. The police have recovered five crude bombs and a Tamil Nadu state registered from them. The arrests were made on Saturday morning.
They used to stuff the bombs in dough mixed meat and place them in the forest areas. They explode when the boars try to eat them.
The trio would then sell the meat to locals and go to their hometown after making some money.
“A sub-inspector along with a head constable while on rounds found the three moving suspiciously at Bettagowdana Doddi on the Kanakapura main road. They were stopped and upon checking found crude bombs in their possession. Then they were taken to the police station for a detailed questioning when they confessed. They said they prepared crude bombs on their own and come to Kanakapura as there are wild boars in the area,” said a police officer. The police are checking if the three arrested are part of any network of poachers. The accused used to make crude bombs using gun powder. They hunted wild boars for their skin and meat. The Kanakapura police have registered a case and further investigations are on.
It may be recalled that a few months ago, two cows died after accidentally eating the crude bombs placed by poachers near a field. After checking the crime scene, the police had defused a few more crude bombs.
