Director Janardhan P Jani, who directed Sanchari Vijays’s Pirangi Pura earlier, has set his eyes on the Guinness World Record this time around.

He plans to shoot and release his new film, Devara Aata Ballavaryaru, in 30 days flat. Within the 30 days, the shooting of the entire film and all the post-production work is planned to be completed.

The film will also have to obtain a Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) certificate to be eligible for a theatrical release.

“Our team has been working on the project for over six months now. The preparations for the film have to be perfect. Our aim is to release the film in theatres within one month from the date we start shooting. The film is set in the year 1975 and it is an action-thriller. The entire shooting is scheduled in specially built sets in Madikeri. The team of 160 cast and crew will be on location for the entire duration,” the director said.

The team rehearsed for five days from June 16 to June 20. The actual shooting started on June 20 and will continue for 16 days. The film is planned to be screened on July 20.

“A team of six from the Guinness Book of World Records will be present at the shooting spot. They will authenticate our efforts,” he said.

The film stars Arjun Ramesh, Sindhu Loknath, Varsha Vishwanath, Samptah Ram, Arjun, Medini Kelemane among others. Arjun Ramesh, who plays the lead role said, “This is my fifth film and I am pleasantly thrilled at the work culture of Janardhan P Jani. I lost 14 kilograms in two months for this role. I am glad to be part of this special film”.

Arjun is popular for his role in the television serial Shani. Sindhu Lokanath returns to the big screen after a gap of three years with this film. Not the first attempt This is not the first attempt at a ‘shoot to release’ record in Kannada.

In 2011, stunt choreographer tur ned director Thriller Manju made an attempt that landed his film Police Story 3 in the record books. The film was shot in just 12 hours on June 6 with six directors shooting parts of the film.

The film’s post production and certification was also done in record time and the film was released 32 days later on July 8.

Long before Police Story 3, Dinesh Baboo had managed to shoot Idu Sadhya in the 1980s in just two days. Subsequently, few other Kannada directors including S Narayan have tried to create records by shooting the entire film in a short span.
