Crime most foul? 15-yr-old’s body found near Magadi

A 15-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances in an open well near Magadi Main Road on the city outskirts.
Two days before the incident, she was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 35-year-old man. The girl told her mother and sister about the incident.

When her mother questioned the suspect, he denied the allegation. Two days later the victim was found dead.

The post-mortem was conducted at the Rajarajeswari Medical College on Mysuru Road. The police have taken the suspect into custody and are awaiting the post-mortem report.

The alleged sexual assault happened on Monday afternoon. One of her relatives told NT, “She was studying in 9th standard and was good in academics. On November 6, the victim returned home from school around 1.30 pm. She went to the fields along with her brother, who soon returned home as he was hungry. She later returned home very disturbed and told her mother and sister about the alleged sexual assault.” It appears that the victim had fought back.

“On Monday morning, when the girl’s brother returned home after buying milk, she was missing. We searched for her and found her sweater and a key near the well. With the help of the police and fire personnel, the body was retrieved from the well,” the relative added.
However it is not clear whether the girl jumped into the well or the suspect had any role in it, police said. “No arrests have been made so far,” said a police officer.
