Bengaluru: IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge on Saturday hit back at Nalin Kumar Kateel, the state’s BJP chief, for his alleged remark against him saying he had acquired powers of Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara.
Taking to Twitter, Kateel had targeted Kharge and questioned if the latter has acquired the position of the Home Minister.
“Is the Home Minister Parameshwara under excessive work pressure? Has he assigned the departmental works to Priyank Kharge for lease”, he said.
In a further jibe, he also said, “Am I not right in assuming that ‘Baby’ Kharge has been admonishing police officials?”
Responding to his alleged remark, Priyank Kharge hit back and said the latter seemed to be unaware of the extent of his responsibilities.
“As a member of Parliament, you may lack awareness of the weightage of your position, but I’m well aware of mine in terms of responsibility. As the incharge of Kalburgi district, I’m responsible for the affairs of all departments of the district.
It is my duty to control the Home department and I must oversee that”, he replied. It is not the first time the two have been involved in a war of words. Nalin Kumar Kateel had earlier attacked the minister over his announcement to ban the RSS in the State, just after assuming charge.
He warned that the Congress would burn in ashes if it tried to ban RSS and Bajrang Dal in the State. Further, Priyank Kharge said the people of Karnataka voted BJP out as the party members lack basic knowledge.
“Your government has caused immense damage to the State, with farmers and entrepreneurs resorting to suicide. We do not need to learn governance lessons from failed politicians like you”, he tweeted.
Kharge also demanded clarification from Kateel as to why he resigned from the chief post and made a U-turn and sought an explanation as to why his party workers insisted that he not be given a ticket again.
“Pay attention to that and secure your ticket”, he taunted Kateel.
