KR Puram tahsildar arrested for unlawful property acquisition

Bengaluru: On Thursday, Lokayukta Police officers imprisoned KR Puram Tahsildar Ajit Kumar Rai on accusation of owning assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. A recent search operation at the tahsildar's residence and office discovered evidence of illegally obtained properties, according to Lokayukta Bengaluru City SP KV Ashok.

The investigation is still ongoing, and investigators intend to question unnamed people connected to the case. During the operation, it was discovered that the tahsildar had illegally acquired more than 150 acres of land.

Despite being questioned by Lokayukta officers, he has refused to reveal details about the properties' origins and acquisition. As a result, he was detained on Wednesday night and formally arrested on Thursday morning, according to the SP. The arrest of the KR Puram tahsildar sends a strong message about the determination of the Lokayukta police to combat corruption and illicit practices within the public sector.
