BMTC starts service from T2; commuters say it was much needed

Bengaluru: The BMTC has now officially launched its bus service from the newly-opened Terminal 2 at the Kempegowda International Airport from Sunday. The announcement came after a lot of passengers complained of trouble reaching the terminal. According to the BMTC, they are operating two buses from Terminal 2, bringing services to the doorsteps of the passengers.

“For safe, comfortable and affordable journey opt BMTC services”, said BMTC. However, commuters took to social media to express their opinions. One user tweeted, “Thank you, this was much needed. Please clarify if all routes will stop at T1 & T2 or only some. And if buses will still wait at the T1 bus stop for 20-30 mins like before”.

The announcement has also come at a time when passengers complained lack of cab facilities at the newly opened T2. Interestingly, the announcement comes after Air Asia announced it to operate flights from the T2. While many were clueless about how to reach the T2, the BMTC came to their rescue. Earlier, many cab drivers were unaware of the route to be taken to reach there.

The passengers also asked the BMTC to notify them about the adequate announcements on the bus.  “Passengers will be confused about which terminal the bus is going to, where it will stop first, which is the last stop, etc”, said a passenger.

Meanwhile, another user said, “You should simply run shuttle from Terminal 2 to 1 and shuttles from Terminal 1 to Mekhri circle. The current approach is not even cherry picking. It's just random and addresses only price sensitive customers. Doesn't change the way people travel to and from the airport”.
