Bengaluru: The High Court of Karnataka has quashed a July 2022 tender notification for mosquito control in West Zone of the BBMP.
The HC however rejected the claims of irregularities in the tender for mosquito control in the other Zones of BBMP. The HC said that the flaw in tender notification was restricted to the West Zone alone.
“The afore-quoted tender notification depicts that it is not done zone wise, but ward wise. Therefore, the tender notification, insofar it concerns West Zone, runs counter to the office order and is contrary to what the BBMP filed before this Court that it would adhere to the office order. This is the flaw in the tender process and the flaw is restricted only to the tender notification concerning West Zone,” the HC said.
The HC ordered that the tender process for other Zones should be continued.
“The BBMP shall take tender notifications concerning remaining zones to their logical conclusion without any loss of time.
Insofar as it concerns We s t Zone, if any of the petitioners are executing the work of control of mosquitoes in any ward of the West Zone, they shall not be disturbed until the tender notification is issued and tender process is completed,” Justice M Nagaprasanna said.
