Bengaluru: A complaint was filed with the city police after an ugly spat took place between former athlete Bindu Rani and a woman coach Shwetha GK at the Sri Kanteerava Stadium here.
Bindu Rani filed a complaint with the Sampangi Rama Nagara police accusing coach Shwetha and her husband, Yatish, of abusing her.
The video of the incident was shared on several social media platforms. As per sources, the incident took place on Monday morning where Bindu Rani was verbally abused and shoved by Shwetha, a woman coach and a former tennis player, during practice.
In the video the woman coach can be seen abusing Bindu Rani for not giving an explanation over the wrong information that she had allegedly shared during a TEDx speech.
She was also seen shoving Bindu Rani, questioning her regarding a theft, and regarding her accomplishments. It is alleged that Bindu Rani had shared her speech on Instagram where she claimed to have won 200 medals including the Khel Ratna.
The part of the speech was later shared on Kanteerava Stadium WhatsApp group by Shwetha's husband, Yatish, questioning Bindu's claims. Later Bindu had replied in the group that Khel Rathna puraskar was not Major Dhyanchand Khel Rathna award.
The award she mentioned was given to her by Junior Chamber International for Women's Achiever, she said in the WhatsApp group. On Monday however, Shwetha confronted Bindu Rani and allegedly abused her in front of other players.
The video also showed Shwetha showing a slipper to Bindu Rani while calling her a 'fraud.' Based on Bindu Rani's complaint, the police have registered a case under Sections 504 and 506 and are further investigating the matter.
