Bengaluru: A woman said to be distressed over her husband’s extramarital affair, allegedly committed suicide and left a death note blaming her husband and the other woman as the reason for her decision to end her life.

The woman had also shared a video clip on WhatsApp status demanding her husband and his lover be punished.

The Kengeri police said that the incident had taken place on Saturday and the deceased was identified as Pavitra, a resident of Hegganahalli in Bengaluru. Based on the death note and the video shared on WhatsApp status, the police suspected that the woman had ended her life after being distressed by her husband's affair.

Pavithra, who had divorced her first husband, got married to Chetan Gowda in 2019. She was working as a manager with a private firm where Chetan was also working. Relationship between the couple went awry when Pavithra found out Chetan's illicit relationship with another woman named Puja Gowda.

A depressed Pavitra had even told her mother Padmamma about this earlier. According to police sources, Pavithra had shared a video of her conversation with her mother as her WhatsApp status, before ending her life.

Her mother came to know about this incident only after seeing the death note on her daughter’s WhatsApp status. However Pavitra had died before her mother could reach Pavithra's house.

"My husband Chetan Gowda is having an illicit relationship with a woman, Puja Gowda. Ever since their extramarital relationship started, my husband has been torturing me and I have suffered a lot in my life. The two are responsible for my death and must be punished. I want justice. I devoted my life to Chetan Gowda, but he tortured me and caused my death," the note allegedly written by Pavithra stated.

An FIR has been registered against Chetan Gowda and Puja Gowda at Kengeri Police Station under IPC 306 for abetment to suicide. Further probe is underway.
